Doodle 315 - Layering Things Out

Well, the painting has officially begun!

Whenever I start laying down color there is a brief moment of panic, when I just loose my marbles and think I am going to screw the drawing sooo badly that I might as well leave it unfinished.

I used to feel the same way about starting to draw on a blank piece of paper... you JUST have to push yourself to go through with it and just give yourself little pep talks as you go.

Still, I am scared of what I'll do tomorrow, I can only delay her face so long.

For now I laid out the bottom layers and the sky, the plants and gator need a lot of work still, but first I need to do a general painting before getting trapped on the details.

Also, I must thank LeAnn for pointing me to this wonderful resource about this very particular Haunted Mansion portrait, I now have even more references to help me through this project.

Making great progress! I can't wait to see how you do her eyes! It's all in the expression of the eyes. :)

Great reference photo so we can see how big it is. I especially like the one in the middle with the cat tail! So fun!
