Doodle 010 - Sorceress

Fridays are good days for me, I don't have to rush my drawings as much, I can think about them a bit more, and not having the stress of an impending day at the office frees up some space on my brain.

Today I used SenshiStock's stock image as a pose reference. devianArt can be an awesome place for finding inspiration and ogle at incredible artwork, I will caution that there is a whole lot of nudity out there that might make some audiences very uncomfortable, but one can adjust personal filters to navigate the galleries.

Sorceress - 20 mins aprox, graphite and mechanical pencil on plain moleskine.

I first laid the base for this drawing by drawing a quick wire frame using a photo as a reference, then I played around with the costume design, expression, props, etc. I was surprised at how incredibly easy it came to me and it sorta looks like a collection of different steampunk cosplays I have seen over time mixed all together in one place.

Not gonna lie, I would love to wear something like this.

  2. I can't find a link on my phone to email you but... Would you be interested in doing a tattoo design? Discovered you through Epbot and the way you put little pieces of your lovely self into your art is just delightful, I adore you and your work. If you would be interested please email me at Becka.snow@yahoo.com. Or hey, if you ever need someone to talk to... ;) thanks!

  3. Hi Becka! Thanks for the lovely compliment. At this very moment I am not taking commissions, but I might start later on since there seems to be interest on it.

I am just not "quite there" yet with my confidence on my drawing ability, but once I am I will make sure to let you know. I am saving your e-mail until then.

  4. doula_char: Hmmmm I think burnt Sienna, weathered oranges, some hues of red, and leathery browns.

I am thinking of turning this into a digital painting. I will post it if I do. :)

  5. This is how I imagine my sorceress would look if I could customize it in Diablo.

  7. Oh, yes Deviant Art is the place to be. It's a lot less virus-y than it was last year; they do seem to have cleaned up most of the malware issues. It's too valuable a resource to be picky about the occasional girl tied up in knots...

I love the Steampunky feel of this one.

  8. I adore "To hang up the stars"! You just keep right on doodling, I look forward to the day when we can buy these online!

It's the kitten's smile and body pose that I think I love the best, you can just imagine the little fuzzball arching his back in response to being petter. Love it.

    Keep it up!

Sometimes I venture out into the world, this means I don't get access to the comments section of the blog, which in turn means I can't moderate them and approve them.

Yes, I read and approve every message left here, so don't worry if your message doesn't show up right away, it means I haven't read it yet! I'll always get it when I get back to the internets (proper ones anyway), I will make sure to check.

Thanks so much for any messages, I love receiving them!
