Well, today I worked on the clothes, the folds are always challenging, but so fun.

I debated wether to work on the wire walker's face today.

Part of me was scared I would mess it up, the other just wanted it dealt with...

You can guess who won.

I am hoping I will have this finished by Friday.

Doodle 315 - Layering Things Out

Well, the painting has officially begun!

Whenever I start laying down color there is a brief moment of panic, when I just loose my marbles and think I am going to screw the drawing sooo badly that I might as well leave it unfinished.

I used to feel the same way about starting to draw on a blank piece of paper... you JUST have to push yourself to go through with it and just give yourself little pep talks as you go.

Still, I am scared of what I'll do tomorrow, I can only delay her face so long.

For now I laid out the bottom layers and the sky, the plants and gator need a lot of work still, but first I need to do a general painting before getting trapped on the details.

Also, I must thank LeAnn for pointing me to this wonderful resource about this very particular Haunted Mansion portrait, I now have even more references to help me through this project.

Doodle 314 - Is That a Canvas???

Yes, yes it is, and a rather large one too.

If you are a Disney fan, you can definitely tell where this is from and where it is going.

I will be working on this for the rest of the week. I haven't painted anything this big in forever, so I decided to do something easy and familiar to decorate my home office.

I have 2 original paintings I want to do once I get my feet wet again.

In case you are wondering, I will be using acrylics... oils are fun too, but I like my paintings to dry faster... yup I'm impatient like that.

Tag along as I try not to screw things up LOL.

Also, I corrected the sketch for her eye and the smudge made me think of Zuko... because I'm an Avatar fan LOL.

Doodle 312 - Darth Donald

Spent the day with friends at Disney's Hollywood Studios, taking advantage of the last days of Star Wars Weekends.

It ended up raining cats, dogs, maybe a dinosaur or two, so we tried to stay dry inside the Animation Academy.

If you ever visit, I would recommend it, but you can guess that I'll be a fan of anything that involves drawing and animation.

Anyway, today they taught us how to draw Donald as Darth Maul, I tried to memorize the steps and drew it again at home...

Still testing and learning Copic markers... so far I really like them and have started to figure out how to layer them and blend them, but still need a long more practice so do bear with me lol
